Power of Prayer

God’s Provision

If there is one thing that I have learned recently, it is that God answers prayers. All over the world, He answers the prayers of His people. If you have talked to me this past week, my biggest prayer was for my VISA paperwork. I am filled with anxiety at the thought of filling out official paperwork and know that it is only by God’s grace that this would get passed. From everything I had heard, the VISA takes seven days to process. I sent it in last Tuesday and it arrived at my door, while we were praying about it at the kitchen table, two days later. God’s direction has been clear in this calling since the beginning and I am reminded of his provision daily.

I am now 100% funded and ready to leave for the field on July 30th. I have plane tickets, a VISA and now all that is left is to say my goodbyes and pack. My flight in Cameroon only involves one transfer (yay!) and people are already excited to pick me up when I arrive.

I already have an apartment to live in that is close to the school. Upon arrival,  I’ll be able to spend the first week settling in and preparing my classroom. It is amazing how this journey is about it to begin, but these past few months spent developing community have actually been the best start to a new journey that I could have imagined. I could not have gotten this far without this wonderful community of people surrounding me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving your finances, prayers and encouragement. God-Sized Vision

A Passion for Bible Translation

Thank you so much for your excitement and passion about my Wycliffe ministry. By God’s grace, and your partnership, I have spent the last two weeks in Orlando, capturing the vision and getting prepared for my work in Wycliffe. Before coming to training, I had not realized the true impact of having God’s word in your own heart language. I came across this quote from the Kaiwa people: “When we read God’s word in Portuguese (the national language), it was like a blank sheet of paper. We got nothing from it. But now when we read it in Kaiwa, it’s like a crystal clear stream. We can see the very depths of it.”

Thank you for your partnership in getting me this far. I only need $700 more a month to meet the budget that Wycliffe has established before I can be approved to leave for Cameroon. God willing, I will be on the field teaching by the first day of school, August 7th. This means I need to have my full budget met by July 15th to complete all of the details necessary to go. I ask you to prayerfully consider what joining this partnership team might look like for you. I need people to pray and I need people to give to my Wycliffe ministry. This quick timeline is God’s and I am trusting in His timing.

In His Love,

Megan

God’s Perfect Timing

My new journey— May 30, 2017

If you had asked me in high school what I wanted to do with the rest of my life my answer was most likely, “Teach missionary kids.” I didn’t know where that idea had come from but now I know that it was God speaking to me even before I knew how to define His voice.

Starting in August, Lord willing, I will be following His voice to a calling in Cameroon with Wycliffe Bible Translators to teach at an elementary school for missionaries’ children. I will be furthering Wycliffe’s vision of providing Scripture for the Bibleless. I am so excited that God has led every step along the way in order to prepare me for this spot. I wish I could tell you every single story of God’s preparation in this letter, but I will settle for just one.

When I moved back to San Diego, I did it without any idea of a job. I trusted that He would provide one in His time. I applied to many schools at the beginning of August and the only school that contacted me back for an interview was the one I have been working at these past two years. This position was God-ordained because it taught me how to engage and love whole families, which is exactly what God has prepared for me on the mission field. Without God’s preparation of my heart this way, I never would have been ready to do this.

I am so excited to go and begin my service but before I do, I get to build a team of partners. I have the privilege and joy to invite you all along on the journey with me. There are many ways of partnering with my Wycliffe ministry—through prayer and financial resources. Would you prayerfully consider how God might like you to be involved? I would love to talk with each one of you further. The easiest way to join this team of partners is to follow this link to be directed to my personal Wycliffe webpage, wycliffe.org/partner/msmith. Please contact me further for any other methods.
